Atari collection preservation

Hi Everyone - this may be jumping the gun but I think I will be taking in a massive Atari collection.  Biggest I have seen in the wild.  8 and 16 bit hardware and software as well as manuals and ANTIC magazines. It's not appropriate for me to hoard this and I'm going to offer a lot of this to the computer museum but they won't want/need all of it.  My ask is this - is anyone out there willing to help me archive software/manuals/magazines so that they may be preserved?  I think it would be reasonable to allow contributors to pick some non-museum items as an honorarium for your volunteer effort...  I will make remaining equipment (I am sure there will be some) available to members of the club - possibly in exchange for donations to the charity of the estate's choice - or just to give away, depending on what the estate wants.

FYI - don't bother giving anything to COMA. They don't care about Atari 8-bit and already have plenty.

How about the Atari Museum?  Just in case there’s something they don’t have or need.

Yeah that's why I can't in good conscience keep it all or even a majority of it.

Good lord that is an amazing collection. I'd die and go to heaven if I could jump in all that with a screwdriver and toothbrush, haha

I’d be willing to help

I'd love to get a 1200XL if there is one available in the collection. That's the only model of Atari 8-bit I've never run across in the wild.

Wow!  I thought I had a large Atari collection, but this puts mine to shame.  I'd definitely be interested in a few pieces...

That's a pretty sweet console radio, are they parting with it too? I
hope they are keeping it, it is beautiful, but if not...

Is Wade Ripkowski a member of the groups.io? He had a big Atari 8-bit/XL setup at last year's show, this looks like something he'd be all over. He's from my neck of the woods but I've never been able to find him after the festival.

I can help with archiving software and possibly scanning.  I'm in the middle of archiving several disk collections that I've acquired over the years to .ATR and .ATX images, including my own floppies from the 80's.

Most of the Atari magazines have been scanned already, but there are many user group journals and newsletters that are MIA.  If there are any Current Notes or Atari Classics issues, there are a number of them that have never been archived.  I have a large 11x17 flatbed scanner and a sheetfed Fujitsu duplex scanner.

Thanks. Will definitely be able to use your help sifting.  Maybe there's nothing special there but there's just so much material that maybe there is something rare that should be cares for...

I would be happy to help with this as well. I can scan manuals for preservation and I am quite handy with restoration.

I don't actually own any vintage computers, wouldn't know if I would want one. I probably couldn't help with archiving software since I dont have any drives. I would be happy to help just for the sake of preservation.
